During this project we changed species several times due to out choices but also due to that species being picked by other groups. In this project we made a movie, slide show, and a very fun kahoot, which unfortunatly we could not play. (due to a hacker).
Our top three choices were a panda, a tiger, or some sort of monkey. Pandas are no longer endangerd, but, they are vulnerable. Tigers are criticly endangered. The group before us picked pandas, but, the species we wanted if we could not get pandas were tigers, so we picked tigers.
Evolution: The gradual development of something, especially from a simple to a more complex form. The tiger and the snow leopord evolved 3.9 million years ago from a common ancestor.
Artificial selection: The breeding of plants and animals to produce desirable traits. Tigers breed differently based on their envirenment, tigers that live in the snow will breed and end up having traits that benifit the cold, while tigers that live in very hot climates will end up having tarits to favor hot envirements.
Natural selection: In the ancient times the tigers lived in flooded areas and two species of tigers adapted differently. One species got webbed paws that made it easier to navigate on water and could walk in dry land
Biodiversity: The variety of life in the world or ecosystem. Tigers live in an ecosystem with many other species. Most of the species are tigers prey.
speciation: The formation of new and distinct species in the course of evolution.
types of speciation: the different types of speciation were, allopatric, peripatric, parapatric, and sympatric speciation.
survival of the fittest: The continued existence of organisms that are best adapted to their environment, with the extinction of others, as a concept in the Darwinian theory of evolution. Tigers that are best adapted to the envirement will survive and be able to reproduce, that is survival of the fittest with tigers.
Gene flow: Gene flow is the transfer of genetic variation from one population to another. Tigers genes are passed down from the adult tigers to the young tigers when they reproduce.
Adaptation: A change or the process of change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to its environment. Tigers adapt to better fit themselves for the envirement but they do so over lots of time.
Overall our project was very creative and fun. The ability that my group had to be flexible was what made our project so sucessful. But we all also worked very hard to have a complete project along with many extras. Without the extra work we put in to make the extra activities our project would not have been very good, but with all the hard work it turned out very well
