In STEM Marin our first project was the rude Goldberg machine. For the rude Goldberg machine we had to choose a theme. The them that my group chose was America. At first my group (Izagani, Evan, and Madison) had a hard time agreeing on a theme. But we ended up agreeing on America. our machine as a whole is known as the americanator.
This machine included 5 simple machines. Those where a lever, screw, wedge, pulley, and ramp. At the beginning of the rude Goldberg machine we had our first simple machine, a ramp. The ramp was disguised as a river then we had George Washington sailing down it. we drew a picture of George Washington than attached that picture to the side of the marble. This event was known as George Washington crossing the Delaware. Then we had a top hat, decorated with stripes and stars, on top of uncle Sams head. once George Washington sailed down the Delaware he knocked a marble into uncle Sams hat then rolling down our second simple machine, a screw. After the marble rolled down the screw, the marble knocked another marble off our third simple machine a lever, then rolled down a miniature golden gate bridge, after the golden gate bridge the marble knocked a series of cars (which rested on wedges), down more ramps which were screwed down with gaps in between each other and criss cross. The final ramp was lined up with a button that launched a rocket.
The Rube Goldberg machine that included all of those awesome simple machines also included thoughtful decorations and art. some of those decorations where Donald Trump, A bald eagle, sports balls, and an American flag. at the bottom of the machine was the white house and behind the white house was the rocket that was launched, as the fantastic ending.
This process as a whole was a very fun learning experience that help me learn how to work better with others. Over all our group had some problems working together but we got over them and where very successful. this experience was very fun and has helped my group learn lots.
